My girls don’t mind playground sand.
In fact, they love it.
I pour it out of their shoes when they come home from school.
I, however, get the heebie jeebies from playground sand. I’m trying to get over it. And Lo Gung keeps rolling his eyes at me when I brush myself off as if there are locusts covering me.
I don’t want them to inherit my neuroses. I mean, look at them…they’re having fun. I don’t want to take away from that.
While Lo Gung doesn’t understand this particular neurosis (and there are many), he was willing to distract me with funny faces. And I was willing to play along, so it was working.

What’s with kids and sand? I too, don’t mind sand at the beach but the playground?!!! Eeeeeewwwwwww!!
BTW – love your new profile pic. Very pretty!
Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog! You’re so lucky to have twin girls – we just had our third girl, but now we can’t choose between two names. Wish we had twins then! (or maybe not, busy as it is…) The beach looks fantastic, wish summer would last and last here.
i’m with you, i don’t like sand, either.
Funny! You know I’m a bit funny about sand too – playground or beach. I don’t like the feel of it. BUT I try to do my best not to let my children know I have a thing against it. i want them to enjoy sand — which they do… but before they get into the car, i practically do a full body shake down before they can get in. In fact, they change clothes sometime before getting in the car after a long day at the beach! I know they need to be children… but the clean up, Oh my gosh!!!!
I don’t like sand.
Enjoy the weekend.
I can completely understand you phobia about sand. I used to have a sand pit in the back yard for the kids when they were little and I covered it every time they were not using it so some animal would not use it as their toilet.
I always wonder what the kids are exposed to in the sand. Sorry if I made you more sweamish about it. I will say that my kids are teens now and have never had any negative effects from playing in sand at playgrounds.
